The refillable ink tanks

The refillable ink tanks, neatly placed at the front right of the printer, aren’t just a decorative addition: Epson says that by using tanks instead of notoriously expensive cartridges, users can save up to 90 per cent on ink costs, and the tanks can hold the equivalent of 72 cartridges’ worth of ink. Filling them up is easy and satisfying. The resealable and drip-free ink bottles that come with the printer come with heads that can only be used with the right colour tank. This means that you don’t need to consume yellow for the remainder of the life of your printer.

The bottle connects to the tank by flipping upside down. It shuts off automatically when it’s filled. It is not a requirement to squeeze. The tank’s transparent side is an indicator of the level of ink and is also able to color the black-coloured printer. Ink is sufficient to print up to 4,500 mono pages and 7,500 colour pages once the ink is dry.
